I describe Reiki as my lifesaver because I found in Reiki what I had always been searching for in my life. At Easter 2002 I found myself in a time of personal crisis, I had lost a dear friend in the events of 9/11 making me question once again the meaning of life and how to cope with stressful situations.
My introduction to Reiki came through a friend who talked to me about the benefits. It was synchronicity at its best when I looked in my local paper in the same week to see a Reiki Healing circle being advertised on Saturday. I had no idea what I was walking into, all I knew was I crying when I arrived. Reiki, I learned, was transference of energy between the Reiki Master or other participants which have been initiated into Reiki as they placed their hands on or near your head and shoulders. For me at this time I did not give this energy a name, all I knew was it made me feel good
After learning Reiki and being initiated into how to transfer this energy I would now call the energy unconditional love. But coming to this realisation and the whole concept of energy healing and the benefits of Reiki to me took a number of years and without hesitation, I will always say Reiki is what saved my life. That may sound dramatic to others, but for me I found what I had always been searching for, unconditional love.
When I found Reiki or Reiki found me, not only did it save my life it gave me a higher meaning and purpose to live my life in that I had always been searching in my life, what I was searching for I had no idea but once I had my first transference of Reiki, I knew I had experienced this love before. What I found in Reiki energy was a love which touched my heart and enabled me to release my emotions. For me being an emotional person was not something I would have described myself as. How do I know this? Because since I was a teenager, I had used food to control my feelings. Whether this was to squash them down or cover myself up. I describe using food and drink as my way of unconsciously disconnecting from my emotions. When I look back, I really had no foundation in this lifetime to know why this was happening; Reiki however introduced me to an energy which made me feel good but most of all I was introduced to a tool of healing which I could open up to in the comfort of my own home. After I had been initiated into Reiki 1, I could lie on my sofa at home for hours channelling what I describe as unconditional love into my whole being. In fact, I cried on my sofa and self-healed through Reiki for 6 years. The end result being I filled the void and healed myself consciously from using food inappropriately. It was my tool to go to instead of turning to food. It was not the only tool which helped to do this but it supported me over many years to heal my relationship with using food and my emotions.
I thank Reiki and energy healing for guiding me to explore my own journey of what loving myself unconditionally meant to me. It firmly placed me on a journey of learning all about eastern philosophies and different healing modems but most of all it taught me how using both western and eastern healing together teaches us how to take a holistic approach to our wellbeing. What you have to learn as I did is that our life experiences of past and present impact on our whole wellbeing whether you are conscious of this or not. You may be totally unconscious of what is stored within those life experiences you have disconnected from but are calling to be loved. After 21 years of learning and having learned Reiki Master Practitioner twice to self heal in a time of personal crisis I am well versed to know how my clients and I have benefited from energy healing.
Reiki gives you the tools to build a different relationship with loving who you are. Not only does it restore your faith, give you courage, motivation and much more it enables you to give your self-love. Why is self-love important? Because the home of unconditional love is inside who you are and you have to free your self-love to guide you to a higher and higher level of consciousness to love. When you feel unconditional love inside who you are, then unconditional love enables you to find a whole new meaning and purpose to loving who you are inside your mental, physical, emotional and spiritual self. For each part of your whole self needs different tools and techniques to support your personal growth and development and wellbeing.
